Head of School's Building Update: January 30, 2026

Head of School's Building Update: January 30, 2026
Hannah Lawrence

Head of School, Brad Zacuto, gives an exciting update on the construction progress at our new campus home.

 Head of School Update

January is already behind us, and we’re now six months out from opening our new campus at 5340 Alla Road. This journey began in 2023 and gained momentum with the financing of the purchase and securing permits in 2024. Collaborative work with architects and consultants led to a design, and our general contractor began work in 2025. Now, we’re in the final stretch; construction is well underway, and everything remains on track for our Grand Opening and Block Party on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

I want to provide you with a snapshot of the work happening now and what is to come. Outside, grading and drainage work is in progress to prepare for new play structures and playgrounds, which will become more visible this spring. Inside, demolition is complete and major structural upgrades are nearly finished. Framing, plumbing, electrical work, and drywall installation are moving quickly, and by the end of spring break, the full structure of the school will be in place. Finishing work—including painting, cabinetry, doors, windows, and outdoor installations—will follow.

By the end of June, we’ll pack up 5401 and 5400 and be ready to move into the new campus in July. When teachers return in August, classrooms and offices will be ready for setup and welcoming students. We will be sharing with returning families this spring and summer instructions and updates on new drop-off and pick-up procedures, as well as details about the exciting events commemorating this historic transition for WNS.

This is a joyful and historic moment for WNS—one of the most significant milestones in our school’s history. We are deeply grateful for your partnership and support, including those who have contributed to the Embrace the Dream campaign campaign. These gifts will enable us to complete additional spaces we hope to open this fall, including the DK–K play yard, East End Athletic Complex and Turf Field, Middle School Lounge and Digital Arts Studio, K–8 Dance Studio, and the Community Meeting Room. If you’d like to learn more, please contact Danny Kramer, WNS Director of Development.
