Performing Arts
Building Confidence Through Creation
Performing arts are a vital part of the core curriculum for all students in grades K–8 at WNS. From an early age, students build confidence, creativity, and self-expression through music, movement, and theater. In middle school, students have expanded opportunities to explore their artistic interests through a diverse range of electives.
Throughout the year, students proudly showcase their talents in a variety of performances—from school-wide productions to intimate, grade-level showcases—celebrating their growth and sharing their passion with the broader WNS community.

Performing Arts in Middle School
The middle school performing arts program not only teaches performance techniques but importantly, cultivates essential life skills such as empathy, self-confidence, public speaking, and collaboration. Through a variety of classes and performance opportunities, students learn to express themselves creatively while working as part of an ensemble.
Each grade participates in a dedicated performance, and all students have the chance to explore their interests further through a range of performing arts electives.
The program culminates in a special 8th-grade tradition: the 8th grade play, a fully student-written, produced, and directed production that showcases the leadership, creativity, and teamwork of our graduating class.
These shared artistic experiences strengthen peer connections, build lasting memories, and offer students a meaningful way to reflect on their WNS journey before heading into high school.
Performing Arts in Elementary School
Our younger Jets participate in an active music and dance program throughout their time in the lower school, with opportunities for further enrichment classes as part of our ACE program (After Class Enrichment). Each grade participates in a variety of performances which parents and caregivers are invited to attend.
Highlights of the program include: the annual winter Performing Arts Showcase, Community Dance, World Music, learning about instruments in and sections of the orchestra, proper singing technique and stage presence, great composers and musicians, understanding music theory, playing a variety of instruments including percussion and drums, piano, guitar and more, improvisation, lyric analysis, and dancing.
In addition, students build upon essential character skills including kindness, respect for self, others and property, team work, tenacity, and determination.
